Celebrate 40 Years of Black Women's Health Imperative

In honor of our 40th anniversary, BWHI will return to its local chapter roots, hosting two events designed to educate, empower, and provide resources on health and wellness for women of color. These events will be a true celebration of Black women, their achievements and contributions, and a reflection on the continued work needed to improve the health outcomes of Black women.

EVENT 1

8:30 AM - 4:30 PM: Spelman College - The State of Black Women's Health Symposium

About the Event

The event will be held at BWHI’s birthplace, Spelman  College in Atlanta, and will feature panel discussions, white paper presentations, and keynote speakers from the scientific and medical communities.  Discussions will cover the economy,  politics, health, and education.

To kick off the symposium, Spelman College President Dr. Helene D. Gayle will make opening comments. The symposium aligns with  Spelman College’s mission to  educate, prepare, uplift, and empower Black women.

EVENT 2

6:30PM - 11:00 PM: Georgia Aquarium - 40th Anniversary Celebration Gala

We will celebrate our decades of impact in:

• Reproductive justice
• Maternal health
• Chronic disease
• Cancer research and screenings
• Provider & policy change
• College and youth programs
• Fair work promotion
• Rare disease advocacy

Our celebrations will feature local artists, musicians, and thought leaders. And we will honor grassroots leaders with BWHI signature awards.

And, In honor of our 40th anniversary, BWHI will offer scholarships (8 per city) to cover the full cost of the ticket to our gala events.
